Yay! Success in 2009!

It looked bleak at the beginning, but I managed to make up enough stuff. Whew! Not my favorite of my novels. I think it's probably #4 of 6.

Cheating at Nano - thus far...

So far, I have:

-pasted a 250-word explanation of shooting stars from

http://starchild.gsfc.nasa.gov/docs/StarChild/questions/question12.html

-a 259-word list of things to do in Europe. If I don't describe them all, then my MC will run out of time to write about them in her travel journal and just list them.

-a 274-word conversation that I overheard at the Pasta House at STL.

-5-6 word descriptions of what is supposed to happen in several chapters, as sort of a working outline within my novel. After the chapter is written, however, I turn those words white. They aren't there, but they still count.

-74 words worth of random notes that may or may not make it somewhere in the novel

and exactly 100 words of chapter headings for chapters not yet written.

and it's all perfectly legitimate.

Gotta love NaNoWriMo! :)

in the middle of it all...

Is this the end of the second week already? Tomorrow it will be... I should have 23.4k tomorrow to be halfway done for the month. I should have 28k to be halfway done to finish before Thanksgiving. Let's hope that tonight and tomorrow are very wordy days.

I now have the first ten chapters written. I just finished chapter seven. I've been skipping around a lot. It's been interesting.

Got my Hot Box Cookies, though... Life is good.

weekend near Mizzou

Yep, it's the annual November weekend at Jude's. Supposed to have 38k before I come home. HA! Hopefully I'll get a ride home from the airport even if I don't.

Hot Box Cookies, here I come!

Nano-palooza!

1731 words so far, but can I write 199 more?

10k before bedtime would be pretty sweet.

Happy 5th nano-anniversary to me.

I couldn't kill the parrot. I think I might have given it a concussion, though.

Back to look for 199 words...

word count and other mysteries of the universe...

So, I got a pretty good start yesterday and got 5k in early, which carries me through until Thursday. No writing on Thursday - meeting in A2. Ironically enough, about NaNo. :)

No writing tonight - had to get a presentation together that I wasn't sure I was doing. I'd asked for presentation time and got an "I'll see what I can do when I put together the agenda" but never got a definite answer. Still wouldn't have a definite answer except that I saw the printed agenda in someone's pile of stuff in a public space. No agenda in my mailbox.

I think I'll work on my novel tomorrow during the rest of the meeting - when I'm not presenting. I'll open another word document and just sit and type, looking up occasionally so it looks like I'm taking notes. :) [insert the evil laugh here]

Good thing I have no concept of time. Time change doesn't affect me. Don't get me wrong - I miss the sunshine. I miss dusk at 9 p.m. I have to keep looking at the clock. And now it's telling me to start reading myself to sleep.
